Privacy
Quiet by design.
SerenVoice is built around anonymous Stories and private one-to-one conversations. This policy explains what we collect, what we avoid, and how safety records work.
Information we collect
SerenVoice collects only what is needed to operate the service: your email address for account access, your date of birth confirmation, language preference, anonymous Stories you post, connection request records, conversation metadata, device push tokens if notifications are enabled, reports, blocks, and basic technical logs that help us keep the app reliable and safe.
What we do not collect by design
SerenVoice does not create public profiles, follower graphs, likes, public comments, public message history, or replayable social feeds. SerenVoice has a discovery feed for anonymous Stories, but it is built to move people toward private one-to-one conversations rather than public social content.
Stories and temporary content
Stories are anonymous posts that help others understand what you are experiencing. A Story may receive private connection requests, relate signals, or conversation activity. A Story may expire, be deleted, be removed for safety reasons, or disappear when its moment has passed. Even though Stories are temporary in the app, we may keep limited backend records where needed for safety, abuse prevention, legal compliance, debugging, or service integrity.
Conversations, voice notes, and calls
SerenVoice supports private text conversations, voice notes inside conversations, and anonymous calls. We do not build SerenVoice around public replays or permanent public call history. Text messages and voice notes may be stored so both participants can continue the private conversation while it is active. Anonymous calls are not recorded by default, though we may keep limited call metadata such as participants, Story reference, start time, end time, duration, technical connection state, and reports or blocks connected to a conversation.
Conversation deletion and retention
When you delete a conversation for yourself, it is removed from your conversation list on your account. The other participant may keep their own copy until they delete it, the conversation expires, or Seren removes it under our retention rules. When a conversation ends, message and voice note content is scheduled for deletion after a limited retention window, currently 7 days, unless we need to keep limited records for safety, abuse prevention, legal compliance, debugging, or service integrity. If both participants delete their copies, the shared message and voice note content may become eligible for deletion sooner.
Local audio cache
Voice note audio may be temporarily cached on your device for playback. SerenVoice clears local voice-note cache when you log out, end a conversation, block from a conversation, or delete a conversation for yourself. Device operating systems may also keep their own temporary files outside Seren's direct control.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, SerenVoice may store a device push token so we can notify you about connection requests, accepted requests, new messages, voice notes, call requests, conversation endings, reminders, and safety-related updates. Logging out or switching accounts may update or remove device-specific notification records.
Safety, reports, and blocks
If you report or block someone, SerenVoice may store the report reason, related Story or conversation details, user IDs, timestamps, and any note you provide. We use this information to review abuse, reduce repeat harmful contact, enforce our rules, and protect users.
How we use information
We use information to provide authentication, show and expire Stories, route connection requests, deliver private messages and voice notes, connect anonymous calls, prevent spam and abuse, investigate reports, improve reliability, comply with law, and communicate important service or safety updates.
Sharing and service providers
We may use trusted service providers such as Supabase for authentication and database services, Expo for push notifications, Agora for voice calls, hosting providers for the website, and analytics or diagnostics tools. These providers process information only as needed to help Seren work.
Age limit
Seren is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to use Seren. We may ask for date of birth information or confirmation to help enforce this requirement.
Your choices
You can choose not to post a Story, decline notification permissions, delete an active Story, delete a conversation for yourself, block users, report safety concerns, or stop using SerenVoice. Deleting a conversation for yourself does not immediately delete the other participant's copy. Some safety, abuse-prevention, or legal records may be retained for a limited period even after content disappears from the app.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect SerenVoice, but no internet service is completely secure. Text and voice notes should not be described as end-to-end encrypted unless SerenVoice explicitly ships that feature. We may consider end-to-end encryption for text and voice notes in the future. You should avoid sharing sensitive personal, financial, medical, legal, or emergency information during Stories, chats, voice notes, or calls.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Seren changes. If the changes are significant, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users through the app, website, or email.
